To Serve in Charity
Frascati, August 27, 2015
The Meeting of the Provincial Secretaries and the General Government, August 24 - September 1, is taking place at the Formation Center of the Capuchin Friars which is located on the hill. From here you can see the city of Frascati and the wonderful panorama of Rome and the surrounding area.
On August 24, we began our meeting with a solemn prayer during which we placed the Bible, our Rule and Life and a lighted oil lamp in the center of our meeting room.
Superior General Sr. M. Klara Šimunović greeted the Sisters present and explained, among other things, the reasons for chosing our theme, To Serve in Charity. In fact, the Secretary is at the service of the Sisters. This service must be done with love because, apart from being a professional job, it is a mission, it is also an apostolate completed from the viewpoint of evangelical service. The mission of the Secretary is that of making true and authentic relationships with the Sisters of the Congregation and the Province, creating communion and unity. This requires a deep understanding of herself and the constant care of positive relationships with God and with others.
August 25 was a day of reflection and prayer. Sr. Michela Refatto, sfp, a biblical scholar, presented the figures of Mary and Elizabeth and some texts of St. Paul that make reference to our theme.
Fr. Sebastiano Paciolla, O. Cist., Undersecretary of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life (CICLSAL) will be joining us on August 26 and 27 to speak on The Year of Consecrated Life: Theoretical and Practical Aspects. This will be followed by a talk presented by Sr. Piera Cavaglià, the Secretary General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians on the role and figure of the Provincial Secretary and Secretary General. We will also have the opportunity to visit the offices of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life in Rome.
During this meeting we will also do a thorough analysis and updating of our Manual for the General and Provincial Secretaries from 2004.
In the context of the Year of Consecrated Life, we have the opportunity to participate in the celebration of the Eucharist and to renew the profession of our faith at the tomb of St. Peter in the Basilica at the Vatican.
Cordial greetings to all of you, our dear Sisters. Thank you for your prayers and good wishes upon our work; they are a sign of your communion with us.
Pace e bene!
Sr. Celina S. and Sr. Angela Z.
